Dr. Beat Rudin 

Beat Rudin (*1956, married, 3 children) studied Law at the University of Basel. In 1988 he ob-tained his qualification to practise law in Canton Baselland. In 1991 he obtained his doctorate in law (Dr. iur.).

From 1990 to 1992 he was academic adjunct and deputy to the departmental secretary in the Department for Economics and Social Services of Canton Basel-Stadt. From 1992 to 2001 he was Data Protection Officer of Canton Baselland. In 2000 and 2001 he was President of the association of “Swiss Data Protection Officers”.

Since 2001 he has been executive director of the Foundation for Data Protection and Information Security and also organizer of the Symposium on Privacy and Security. Since 2003 he has held a lectureship at the University of Basel.
