Dr. Eduard Kiener Former Director of the Swiss Federal Department of Energy, Kirchlindach
Ederhard Kiener was born in 1938 and grew up in Berne. He studied at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich from 1958 until 1962, when he qualified with an ETH degree in Mechanical Engineeering. He then went on to study Economics and Business Administration at the University of Berne, where he obtained his Masters (lic.rer.pol.) in 1969 and then a Doctorate (Dr.rer.pol.) in 1971. At the same time, he lectured at the evening technical college in Berne from 1963 until 1973. From 1970 to 1973 he worked part-time as Assistant at the Institute of Business Administration. From 1973 until 1975 he was engaged at the Central Department for Organizational Issues of the Swiss Federal Administration in Berne. After this he was chief of staff in the Federal Commission for a Total Energy Concept 1975 to 1976. From 1976 to 1977 he was Deputy Director with the Federal Office of Energy. In 1977 he was appointed Director and headed the Federal Office of Energy until 2001. Since 1994 he has been an individual member of the Swiss Academy of Technical Sciences. |
