Dr. Michael Kohn Dr. Michael Kohn, Joint Working Party on Climate Change, International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Paris
Born in Zürich, where he studied at the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and obtained a degree in Civil Engineering in 1948. After scientific appointments at the ETH, he joined Motor-Columbus AG in 1953 as Project Engineer. In 1964 he became the Director of this company, and in 1967 he became a Member of the Board of Directors, of which he was Chairman from 1975 to 1985. From 1975 to 1986 he was Chairman of the Board of Aare-Tessin AG for electricity and of the nuclear power plant in Gösgen-Däniken. From 1974 to 1978 he was Chairman of the Federal Commission for Overall Energy Conception (GEK). In recognition of his contributions in the area of energy policy, the ETH Zürich awarded him an honorary doctorate in 1995. From 1988 to 1992, he was President of the Schweizerischer Israelitische Gemeindebund (= Swiss Association of the Israelite Community - SIG). |
