Elisabeth Gander

Gesundheitsdirektorin Kanton Obwalden 

Elisabeth Gander (*1949, married, 3 children, 3 grandchildren) completed an apprenticeship in administration, worked in the tax administration department of Engelberg and has been a housewife and homemaker. From 1985 to 1995 she was a councillor on Engelberg local council (education/social affairs, president of the school commission and vice-president of the local council). Since 1990 she has been a member of the executive committee of the FDP party of Obwalden.

In 1995 she was elected to the cantonal government of Canton Obwalden. She first headed the Department of the Military and Police, then from 1999 the Department of Health and Social Affairs and since 2002 she has been head of the Department of Health and Safety.
