Foundation committee Prof. Dr. Heini Murer Heini Murer (born 1944) studied biology at the University of Fribourg from 1969-1971 and majored in biochemistry, the subject in which he was also awarded his doctorate. He was then employed as a research associate at the ETH Zurich and the Max Planck Institute for Biophysics in Frankfurt before qualifying as a professor in 1978 at the University of Frankfurt in physiological chemistry. Following an assistant professorship at the Biochemical Institute of the University of Fribourg he became associate professor in 1981 and full professor in 1996 at the Institute of Physiology of the University of Zurich. From 1997 until his appointment as Vice-President for Research in March 2006 he was Head of the Institute of Physiology at the University of Zurich. Heini Murer is a member and also acted as President of several associations in the field of physiology and nephrology. Between 1993-2004 he was also Research Commissioner at the Swiss National Science Foundation. |
