Lic. phil. Barbara Bleisch

Barbara Bleisch (*1973) studied Philosophy, German Literature and German Language at the Eberhard Karl University in Tübingen (Erasmus Programme) and at the Universities of Zürich and Basel. Since 2002 she has been studying Moral Philosophy and Political Philosophy at the Ethics Centre of the University of Zürich and is writing a dissertation on “The Distant Needy. World Poverty and Global Duties”.

She has gathered practical experience in journalism (NZZ), in Africa (Solidarmed) and at UN Headquarters (UNDESA) in New York. She has written various publications on ethics, poverty and human rights. At the Ethics Centre of the University of Zürich she is on the management committee of the postgraduate course “Master of Advanced Studies in Applied Ethics”. Since 1997 she has been a member of the Swiss scholarship foundation for talented young students.
