Prof. Gerhard Tröster
Gerhard Tröster (*1953 in Würzburg) obtained his doctorate in 1984 after studies in electrical engineering in Darmstadt and Karlsruhe at the Technical University of Darmstadt on the design of integrated circuits. His research during eights years of work with Telefunken (TEMIC) in Heilbronn focused on design methods for analog/digital systems in CMOS and BiCMOS technology. Several national and international research projects developed key components for the ISDN and digital mobile radio systems. As Professor of Electronics Gerhard Tröster has headed the faculty of “Digital Systems” at the Institute of Electronics with the Swiss Federal College of Technology (ETH) Zürich since August 1993. His research activity at the ETH is project-based and applications-oriented with the main focus on: 'miniaturization', multichip modules, mechatronics, electronic packaging and 'wearable computing'. The ‘Wearable Computing Lab’ which he founded at the ETH (www.wearable.ethz.ch) is investigating solutions for future computer systems which can be integrated inconspicuously in our clothing and worn, so that they can accompany us wherever we go and allow us easy access to communications and provide us with all the information we need. |
