Prof. Susanne Suter

Susanne Suter was born in Bauma ZH (Töstal) in 1943. She grew up in Winterthur and completed her medical studies in Zürich and Vienna. After several years of continuing education in Geneva and San Francisco, she was appointed Professor of Paediatric Medicine and Medical Director in the Paediatric Clinic and Polyclinic in Geneva in 1990. Since 1994 she has headed one of Europe’s leading paediatric clinics at the University Hospital in Geneva.

She is a member of various commissions and other bodies, including the research advisory board of the Swiss National Science Foundation. She has been awarded the Otto Naegeli Prize of the Bonizzi Theler Foundation and the Inpharzam Prize of the Swiss Society of Paediatrics. In addition to her work in clinical research and her activities aimed at fostering the development of young scientists in Paediatrics, she is also actively engaged in efforts to reform medical training.
